New Seachart - insight into the development

Title: Preview: New Seachart - insight into the development

Ahoy Pirates,

It went silent about the announced re-design of Seafight. We now want to give you a small insight into the development around the seachart.

Notes on the screenshots:

* Gray buttons are developer tools, some of them will get a design, some of them will disappear ;-)

Notes on the new chart:

* More clear, more fun and above all, more space for playing!
* Improved performance with many players in own view field
* Improved manageability – now it is easier for us to find the issue and faster to reconstruct it.
* Action buttons (blackpowder, light of Tortuga, Bonusmap scroll) are now better repealed and always quick to use
* Seachart "individual" is adjustable to be able to act most efficient as possible on the map.

We hope you like this idea – we will not give you a time frame at the moment, but we see light at the end of the tunnel.

Your Seafight Team

Moving Forward as a Team

Ahoy Pirates

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your understanding and concern regarding the situtation last week. We understand that some of you may still be confused or unsure about what will happen to the Seafight Support and Mod Team.

This announcement is coming from the Admin/Mod team, not the Supporters or Bigpoint, it is just from us to you.

There are many different feelings and thoughts about what happened last week from all sides, Mods and players included. So we will try our best to answer the questions that you have raised regarding the situation, but we may not be able to answer some questions as we do need to respect and protect their privacy. Therefore, continual posts on the board regarding this after this announcement will no longer be answered by us.

There is not any more information that can be given about what actually happened other than what is announced in the following as we do not know any more than this:

http://en.board.bigpoint.com/seafigh...d.php?t=119238

The decisions that were made regarding Terrorise and English~Rose were done because it is what was best for the Seafight Community at that time.

Many thanks to the DarkOrbit Admins who had came over to help us out last week. But please note that they will no longer be involved with Seafight as we are all here again to assist everyone.

Derbes will be taking over as the Supporter for Seafight with occasional help from other Supporters if/when it is needed until things settle down.

The Seafight team that you had previously, including Chat Mods, Board Mods, S-MODs and Admins, we are all still here and will still continue to provide our support to you and help you all out as much as possible as we always have.

I have just opened a discussion thread about this and for today, and today only, any questions that you may have, if we have the answers we will answer them. This will be answered by the admins only, not the Supporters or the mods. But, we do not want to see any complaints or blaim being placed on people. If this happens then the thread will be closed.

Moving Forward as a Team Discussion Thread

We hope that you can all trust us and work with us to move on from this.

Thanks

Your Seafight Team.

Background info about the next update

Yo-ho-ho Seafight Pirates,

Shiver me timbers! Word has spread fast across the high seas at Seafight about the new features, and it's threatening to spoil our surprise! That’s why we’re going to put an end to these wild rumors, and let you in on our little secret now – without letting you know all too much.

Here’s a bit of background info:

In the past, we’ve all been stranded defenseless and had to be witness while one our fellow captains was blown to smithereens by scurvy pirates … and the only way you could help him was to send in the reinforcements and give him cover.

The cry for help often came too late to do any good, and you were forced to watch your fellow mate sink down into Davy Jones' Locker when you finally arrived at the scene of the battle. But to save this ship in dire straits at the very the last minute, we're going to introduce a new source of help for you so you can rescue your mates from the fate of the briny deep – all without you having to fire directly on the attacking opponent.

This new feature is specifically designed for those players who are half pirate, half Mother Teresa. They can keep their fellow swashbucklers from going under on the high seas. This exchange of help is limited to the rescuer and the rescuee.

In other words: This new feature is not a must for you to survive in battle! It's only designed to provide more thrilling fun and excitement for teams. Sometimes it's just nice to be able to throw someone a lifesaver and prevent them from drowning.

Our goal: We want to keep Seafight exciting for all those who like to play in a group atmosphere and are always ready to lend a helping hand to their mates.
Get ready for a big surprise, pirates! We're working our buns off to get this feature online so that you can test it!

Bigpoint announcement!

Dear Seafight Community,

I am sure you have already noticed that Terrorise has decided to leave us as a Supporter. Terrorise him self decided to leave Bigpoint and Seafight due to personal reasons, which we all can accept and understand.
Unfortunately there has been some more talking behind the scences in the background that hurt both the Seafight Mod Team and the Seafight Community.

Faldain decided him self to leave the team due to inactivity and Terrorise quitting Support.

Unfortunately we had to remove English~Rose from the Mod Team due to the fact that she lives in one household with Terrorise. He made that decision obviously without thinking of the impact it might have on her.

What has started to happend here on the board yesterday though, has gone way out of hand. We have not changed the board rules, anyone who break them will receive an infraction or might even get banned. It does not matter who you are.

Terrorise will be treated as a normal community member and so will English~Rose and Faldain be treated.

By not following the board or chat rules, we from Support have to take actions, which you might already have noticed.

I hope we will be able to fill the big shoes that Terrorise has left us with and provide you with the same help as always.

Your SF Team
